In the environmental scan by the National Collaborating Centre for Indigenous Health (2024) under knowledge resources and publications there are six chapters that are sixty pages in length that relate to my health challenge in health promotion. These chapters that discusses in detail the ways in which cultural safety training are being addressed by the government and community with links and resources available with attached documents for further information. The changes being made are affiliated with government policies, Laws and Bills that are being adhered to, Health Canada and Indigenous rights regarding the Declaration on the rights of Indigenous people's act, 2019 (UNDRIP), standards and publications on health standards for health care workers and the Truth and Reconciliation (TRC) being addressed in detail (National Collaborating Centre for Indigenous health, 2024).
The National Collaborating Centre for Indigenous health (2024) is a proactive organization and in their resources provide in-depth detail that focus on provincial and national, organizations that are affiliated, towards systematic changes and structural changes through legislation to meet the service delivery changes of cultural safety for people as per the changes model by Margo Greenwood. Each chapter outlines the initiative's being addressed by the agreements between partners, Indigenous partnership's, organizations and regulated profession's and the educational bodies and resources (National Collaborating Centre for Indigenous Health, 2024).
I appreciate the research, work and information that this website has accumulated to provide a rich cohort of community that addresses what Indigenous people need to make their health better (National Collaborating Centre for Indigenous Health, 2024). I found that this has been beneficial to my learning about the key area of focus and what initiatives are currently being done in Canada to improved education and cultural safety training for health care professionals for Indigenous people living in B.C.
