“The road to success is always under construction.”—Lily Tomlin, actress, comedian, writer and producer

The MHST 601 course has improved my understanding of current professional standards, digital technology through social platforms, and current research. I acquired new skills for research projects with curation and synthesizing information by staying informed about current healthcare issues. The key components learned in the critical foundations of health disciplines have prepared me for future courses in research and writing.

These past 13 weeks have provided me with a foundation of academic knowledge for being a vital member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team in the future, the history of the principles of Canada’s healthcare, and analyzing current research from other classmates in other provinces. I have gained essential learning tools for making executive decisions based on evidence and information storage. A polished website online professional portfolio I created with wix.com will enable me to be recognized as a dedicated healthcare professional.

There is a growing need for more healthcare professionals in all health fields. In all aspects of health care, front-line workers are needed to support people that suffer from chronic diseases, illness, and pain in clinics and facilities. There is also a demand for people with a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree to work in leadership, management, clinical services, and research to oversee the healthcare industry of hospitals and other healthcare-related organizations to make improvements in the system.

I am excited to be part of this dynamic, growing healthcare industry and develop my leadership skills in health studies. I enjoyed this course and learning with classmates in a virtual setting based on a digital platform through Athabasca University. I am looking forward to future endeavors in this program.
